1.Why do the prostitutes doing this thing?
"The motive behind it: money and alcohol. Trading money and alcohol for sex.""That's awful that she would do that at all and for what? money and alcohol? She is not even old enough to drink!" said another Sarasota high school student 16-year-old Emily Smith.
2.Does their school know about this?
Some schools know, but they just pretend they doesn't know. This isn't even the first time high schoolers have used social media to run a prostitution ring. In 2013, three students at Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina were arrested in connection with a prostitution ring. All three students were under the age of 16, and the transaction reportedly involved only $20.
3.Does their parents or guardian know about this?
Some of the parents know.
4.How much did they get at once?
Prices ranged from $50 to $70 for oral sex, and $100 for sex with a virgin. Some students were under the age of 16, and the transaction reportedly involved only $20.Police have since arrested John Michael Mosher, a 21-year-old man who allegedly paid $40 to have sex with a 15-year-old in the prostitution ring.
5.Did they voluntarily or be forced?
It depends on the situation. Most of them were voluntarily.A Bolton High student, whose identity WMC Action News 5 is protecting, says notes and just passing the word around is how a 14-year-old, ninth grade Bolton student let male students know she would be offering sex. He said it usually happened during lunch in the boys' bathroom.
